The Old School, St Peter's, Heversham

In 2002, The Old School was extensively refurbished: the roof was re-slated, the sanitation was improved, and access was facilitated by moving the main door from the north to the west side and by laying a well-graded path from there to the Heversham House gate and the west door of the church.

And a webpage for the Old School was also set up.

This peal of six bells for the service of God in the Parish of Heversham was given by Margaret and Mary Woods, 1870.

Each bell is tuned to five partial tones, spanning two octaves. The nominal note, which is heard on the impact of the clapper, and the hum note, which swells up afterwards, are the two most evident. The others are the minor third, the fifth and the fundamental (the octave above the normal). The hum note should be one octave below the nominal. As well as being in tune with itself, each bell must be in tune with the others in the ring so that the ring functions as a single instrument.

St Peter's Church Heversham is the oldest recorded Church in Westmorland.
