Heversham Community News - 29th June 2001

An evening of songs and slides was given in the Old School by Glenda Bailie of Keighley, who has been to Benin in Africa to visit Bibi Nedellec, a Wycliffe Bible translator, partly sponsored by St Peter’s Church.

Glenda began the evening with sacred songs, accompanying herself on the guitar. She then showed slides of the area where Bibi works and spoke about living conditions, local food, housing and life in Benin.

This was followed by a question and answer session which proved particularly interesting as three church members will shortly be going to Benin to assist Bibi in looking after local children. A collection was taken to purchase communications equipment much needed by Bibi.

Frank Grimes became the new Snooker Club Champion when he fought back from a one frame deficit against former champion Bryan Sedgwick to win the annual individual knockout tournament for the Armer Trophy by 2 frames to 1.
