At morning service in St Peter’s Church, a talk by Joan Thomas took the place of the sermon. Mrs Thomas spoke about the work of the Ebenezer Emergency Fund International, an organisation which helps oppressed Jewish people in various parts of the world to return to Israel.
Mrs Thomas acts as a prayer co-ordinator for the organisation and she described the poor conditions under which some Jews were living which she had T found on her recent visits to Tashkent, in Uzbekistan, and to the Ukraine.

The Bowling Club held a coaching seminar led by coaches from the British Crown Green Bowling Association, which included a video play back delivery clinic. Twenty four members took part in the club’s first tournament, which was won by Agnes Bennett and John Smith, who overcame Helen Hayton and Peter Shaw in the final.
