DUE to rain the planned garden party at Heversham House had to be transferred indoors.
Nevertheless, the event was well attended and cream teas were enjoyed with stalls well supported. The proceeds for Alzheimer’s Disease funds were £500.

HEVERSHAM WI and the bowling club ladies had an enjoyable evening playing bowls. Ruth Labsvirs and Bill Bennett won the bowling club doubles competition for the Jubilee Shield, which has been provided by Harriet and Eric Proctor to be competed for annually. They beat John Smith and Douglas Murphy in the final 21-8. Ruth and Bill overcame Harry Hamer and Pat Finley 21-17 in the semi final while John and Douglas defeated Muriel Hamer and Daphne Smith 21-14.
Presenting the prizes, club chair- man Eric Porter paid particular tribute to new junior member Douglas Murphy who played in his first tournament.
