AS WELL as the councillors 16 parishioners attended the council’s annual meeting held in the Old School.

Councillors Peter Johnson and Tony Parker were elected chairman and vice-chairman respectively for the forthcoming year.

The new playground equipment will be installed during the week beginning July 15.

There were reservations about a planning application for floodlights for Heversham and Milnthorpe Tennis Club. The meeting was adjourned to enable members of the public to express their views. The conclusion was that the council could not support the application in its present form, but would be prepared to support a revised application based on less obtrusive lighting poles and a guarantee that the lights will switch off at 10pm.

The next meeting of the council will be on June 24.
