There was the usual air of excited anticipation as children gathered for the annual sports day held on Dallam School, Bottom Pitch by permission of the headmaster.

Before the sports got under way there was the fancy dress parade. In the under six years category they awarded the first prize to Edward Pickthall, Pirate. Second and third were Brendan Procter, Bob the Builder, and Charlotte Haddow, Sun Flower.

Paul Gibson came first in the six years and over class, dressed as Harry Potter, followed by Alice Pickthall, Butterfly, and Sophie Thwaites-Breed, White Rabbit. The class for group entries was won by Leah Rushton and Kimberley Nelson, and Nikita and Brendan Procter came second.

The afternoon was interspersed with races for Mums and Dads from different areas of the parish. Heversham and Hincaster tied for first place and Leasgill came third. The Victor Ludorum was shared between Sarakay Martindale, Joseph Alaimo and Imogen Boswell each having an equal number of points, and the trophies were presented by Freda Kitchen who, for many previous years had recorded the results and the points won by individual competitors.

The Bowling Club entertained Burton in a return fixture. Burton won 8-2, Heversham winners being Bruce Tyson and John Smith. Milnthorpe Seniors were the next visitors winning 7-1 with doubles pairing Bruce Tyson and Richard Hamer earning the single point. Playing away at Staveley the club had better success winning 5-3 when Muriel Hamer, Maureen Coleclough, Bruce Tyson, Les Askew and Tom Finley won.

Ann Breen and her band made a return visit with a concert at Kendal Town Hall. The concert was organised by Jean Handley and Margaret Nelson assisted by helpers in aid of the Bowling Club.
