From
Heversham Community News - 13th December 2002
THERE was a full attendance for the last meeting of the
parish council
for the year.
The council is trying to trace correspondence files
relating to the transfer of seven sites of parish land.
Playdale’s
contracts’ supervisor has visited the
playground and
agreed to rectify faults highlighted by inspections.
The work is now proceedling.
Cumbria County Council
has agreed to clear the pipe, which
drains the field to the north of the
playground.
It was agreed that interviews
with applicants to take over the
duties of clerk to the council should
be carried out after Christmas.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 the council agreed to
adopt the model scheme of publication, without any optional clauses.
It was reported that an electronic parish notice board will be available
for use by the parish council on the Cumbria Association of
Local Council’s website
(www.calc.org.uk).
Since the hedge on the Low Road (the lane behind the
Athenaeum)
was not now causing an obstruction to traffic, the county council would
not take any action.
It was suggested that a remembrance wreath from the parish
council should be placed on the war memorial at the church in future
years and this will be discussed at the next meeting on January 27.
THE Old School meeting room has been re-opened after extensive
renovation. Many village people attended a coffee morning to view
the excellent work which included complete re-roofing, new entrance,
updated toilets (with disabled facilities), also redecoration which was
in the hands of John and Jane Cushnie who were assisted by the
Mother and Toddler group
and general help by
church members.
There was a
Traidcraft
stall and another with wood carvings in aid
of the
Tear Fund.
Profits from the cake and Christmas stalls will go to
church funds.
