Heversham Community News - 12th April 2002
The singles competition held at the Athenaeum by the Heversham
Indoor Bowling Club resulted in an all-ladies final — the first
in the club’s history - when Anita Gott narrowly beat Ray Sisson
to become this year’s holder of the Sissons Singles Trophy, which was
presented to the winner by club treasurer Eric Schofield.
The family service in St Peter’s Church for Heversham and Milnthorpe parishioners was geared to young people.
Among the congregation were children who had been recently baptised and young families. The service included the baptism Daisy Alice Wright, the first bapbam to take place at the newly repositioned font. Towards the end of the service every child was presented with a balloon.
A large orchestra of junior musicians accompanied the hymns and after the service a celebration cake and refreshments were served.
