Heversham Community News - 11th January 2002

St Peter’s Church will be the scene of much activity during the next three months while major alterations to the interior are being carried out. The organ will be completely covered to protect it from dust while the work of removal and reallocation of some of the pews and the choir stalls proceeds. The ehurch will be divided by a temporary screen at the chancel and work on the body of the church will be done first including the relocation of the font. While this is being done services will be held in the chancel area. Thereafter the procedure will be reversed, services being held in the nave and aisles while alterations in the chancel take place. All the work should be completed by Easter Day. As soon as possible after April work will begin on essential repairs and alterations to the Old School.
