Heversham Community News - 8th February 2002

One of the main items dealt with at the parish council meeting was the refurbishment of the children’s playground. It was reported that £10,657 had been raised or firmly promised and that a Neighbourhood Forum grant application will be considered at the February meeting. The working group was thanked and the council agreed to take over the installation work.

Street lighting at Dallam School was considered as the school was unhappy with the present roadside lighting.
The assistant headmaster of the school agreed to see if the county council's "safe routes to school" scheme would be appropriate.

A resident had complained about the difficulty of driving onto the road at Crow Wood houses because of the number of cars in the parking area.
It was agreed the council could not solve the problem.

The council agreed that commemoration mugs to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee should be purchased using Leasgill Quarry Fund income and that the clerk will ascertain the number of children in the parish and those attending the Primary School from outside the parish.

The Athenaeum has been booked for the annual parish meeting on March 25. Jack Jones, treasurer of South Lakeland District Council, will be invited to speak. The final form of the refurbishment of the children’s playground will also be explained at the meeting.

The next parish council meeting will be February 25.
