JOHN Alcock and Jenny Pearson-Snape won the bowling club Golden Jubilee Round Robin competition overcoming Ruth Labsvirs and Cohn James who reached the final after playing a sixth round closely fought match against Shirley Askew and John Wall.

THE bells in the tower of St Peter’s Church rang for a special service of dedication of the re-ordered sections of the church.
The vicar welcomed the Bishop of Carlisle, the Rgt Rev Graham Dow, and all those attending including representatives of neighbouring churches local council members. He also thanked those who had carried out the work, the architect and everyone who had contributed financially and in other ways.
Music was provided by the young musicians group with Arthur Dewhurst at the organ, and the Whitsun Canticle by St Peter’s singers.

THE bowling club newsletter states that membership stands at 108, and a coaching seminar will take place on June 8. Everyone is invited to a coffee morning in aid of club funds on June 15. Offers of tombola prizes (anything in a bottle) would be appreciated.
Mr and Mrs Cowie, hosts at the Blue Bell, have offered to provide the club with a trophy to be known as the Blue Bell Championship Trophy. This will be competed for in a singles competition on July 28.

HEVERSHAM and district house-to-house collection for Christian Aid Week amounted to £937. With tax reclaimed it will be £1,065.
