Heversham Community News - 7th February 2003

AT THE parish council meeting, an important item on the agenda was the recruitment of a new council clerk.
Two applications had been withdrawn and the post is being re-advertised by public notice and it is hoped that new applications will be received.

Further work on the playground has been carried out by the contractors Playdale and the playground will be reopened in the near future.
Thanks were expressed to all members of the working group who had taken part in the lengthy negotiations.

It was agreed that sufficient thinning of timber in the Quarry Wood had taken place during the winter period, but some more felling of sycamores might be desirable in winter 2003/04.

Steps are being taken to prepare for the annual parish meeting held in the Athenaeum, on March 31 2003.
It was agreed that the co-ordinator for Community First Responders should be asked to give a presentation.

District councillor Brenda Woof informed the council that the pilot collection of recyclable refuse was going well.

The next council meeting is February 24th 2003.
