Heversham Community News - 6th June 2001Councillor Roger Bingham, now representing Heversham as county councillor, was welcomed to the meeting of the parish council. Concerning speed limits around Haverflatts, it was reported that traffic is being muted through that area by computerised route planning systems (GPS).
The
Playgound Working Party reported the broken cradle seat had
been removed and the purchase of a replacement was arranged.
A
fund-raising walk round Levens Hall Gardens has been arranged
for August 9, and a talk by Chris Crowder for October 9.
A new mobile library service is to be introduced when the foot-and- mouth outbreak is over. The next meeting of the council will be on August 20. Sunday was a significant day at St Peters Church as it marked the 25th anniversary of the induction of the vicar, the Rev Canon John Hancock. A special prayer for the vicar and his wife, Margaret, was said by the Rev Ron Rutter who led the service. It was also the 400th anniversary to the day, of the burning down of the church in 1601. During the service the vicar baptised Joshua James Man Rushton and Alice Rachel Cushnie. The reading was given by five junior in members of the congregation and another junior member, Rosie Robinson led the prayers. A talk was given by Elizabeth Bennett and the music was provided by the music group led by Robin Orr. The Bowling Club entertained Netherfield Seniors B team who won 7-2. Heversham winners were Ruth Labsvirs and Eric Proctor.
