Heversham Community News - 5th April 2002

During the week leading up to Easter Day, Compline was said in St Peter’s Church on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Good Friday there was a service of readings, hymns and prayers for the joint congregations of Heversham and Milnthorpe. A choir led the singing and also gave a moving rendering of "Jesus remember me".

A team of six ringers rang muffled bells on Easter Simday, following the recent death of the Queen Mother. The service, led by Chris Bennett, was very well attended. The vicar preached the sermon, the Rev Ron Rutter celebrated Holy Commumon and Dorothy Waite gave the intercessions.

The Lenten cross was transformed as each member of the congregation placed a single daffodil in the bare framework.

A choir sang the Easter Anthem and hymns during communion. Arthur Dewhurst was organist for both Good Friday and Easter Day.
